Get Cited Where AI Gives the Answers

What is Generative Engine Optimization?

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of making your business visible inside AI-generated answers (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini) by structuring your content, schema, and entity signals so AI systems find, trust, and cite you.

We don’t sell theory. SLIDEFACTORY is cited inside Google’s AI Overviews on the exact discipline we’re selling, including a #1 AI Overview citation on a 480-searches-a-month query, and holds a Google Knowledge Panel for the brand. The playbook we run on your site is the one that earned those citations for ours.

What's Inside a GEO Engagement

AI Visibility Audit

AI crawlability, schema validation, entity gaps, and a citation-gap analysis against the competitors AI engines cite today, delivered as a prioritized roadmap. Starts at $1,800.

Entity & Schema Foundation

A unified organization graph, verified profiles across platforms, and Service, FAQ, and Article schema that AI systems parse and trust.

Citation-Worthy Content

Answer-first page structure: direct definitions, question-form headings, and concrete numbers AI engines can quote, the format generative engines reward.

Measurement That Matters

AI Overview citation tracking, referral analytics for ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and Gemini traffic, and monthly reporting against your baseline.

Why does GEO matter now?

AI answers are already between you and your customers. Across the keywords this site ranks for, 68% of the search results now include a Google AI Overview (266 of 391 tracked keywords, July 2026). When the answer appears above the links, being a blue link isn’t enough. You need the AI to name you inside the answer. That’s what generative engine optimization does.

And it compounds beyond Google: visitors referred by ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and Gemini already arrive at this site. AI assistants are a real acquisition channel today, not a future one.

The surfaces

Four AI surfaces, and they do not behave the same

Most agencies treat “AI search” as one thing. It is not. On the client property above, the citation pattern differs sharply by platform, and that changes what is worth optimising for.

Google AI Overviews

The heaviest surface by far: 200 mentions across 235 cited pages. It draws on conventional ranking signals more than the others, so technical and content SEO still carry most of the weight here.

Google AI Mode

101 mentions across 146 pages. Conversational follow-ups pull in pages that never ranked for the opening question, which rewards depth on adjacent subtopics.

Gemini

108 mentions but only 75 cited pages, the most concentrated of the four. A small set of strong pages does the work rather than broad coverage.

ChatGPT

19 mentions across 84 pages, the widest spread relative to volume. It cites more distinct sources but names any single one less often, so entity consistency matters more than page count.

How it runs

How a GEO engagement actually works

The same sequence every time, whether it runs standalone or inside a wider SEO program.

01
Measure where you stand

Baseline your visibility on each AI surface, which of your pages already get cited, and which competitors are being named instead of you.

02
Fix the entity layer

Schema, a single organisation graph, consistent naming and addresses across the web. AI systems have to resolve who you are before they will quote you.

03
Restructure for extraction

Question-shaped headings, short answers up front, real numbers instead of adjectives. Content that is easy to quote gets quoted.

04
Earn the off-site mentions

Most citations trace back to sources other than your own site, so directories, profiles and third-party coverage are part of the work rather than an afterthought.

05
Re-measure monthly

Citations move. We re-pull the same reports every month so you can see direction rather than a single snapshot.

Pricing

What GEO costs

Two ways to buy it, and one way you get it without paying extra.

AI Visibility Audit

A one-time read on where you stand.

From $1,800
  • Visibility baseline across the four AI surfaces
  • Entity and schema review
  • Which competitors get named instead of you
  • A prioritised fix list you can run yourself

Inside an SEO engagement

Not sold separately, and not priced separately.

Included
  • Every SEO engagement we run includes this work
  • Competitors commonly bill $500 to $1,000/mo extra for it
  • Search where AI answers first is not a separate channel

What we can measure, and what nobody can yet

Attribution in AI search is not a solved problem, for us or for anyone. Here is the honest split, because a vendor who claims otherwise is selling you something.

Measurable today

  • Whether your pages are cited, on which surface, and for which prompts
  • How that citation count moves month to month
  • Referral sessions arriving from ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini
  • How often your ranking keywords trigger an AI answer at all

Not measurable yet

  • Which specific citation produced which specific customer
  • Impressions inside an AI answer that never generated a click
  • What a given model will do after its next update
  • Anything approaching the attribution clarity of classic organic search

Is GEO different from SEO?

Different target, same foundation. SEO earns you a ranked link; GEO earns you a citation inside a generated answer. The overlap is large, which is exactly why we include GEO in every SEO engagement instead of selling it as a separate add-on. FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is generative engine optimization?

GEO is the practice of making your business visible inside AI-generated answers (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini) by structuring content, schema, and entity signals so AI systems find, trust, and cite you.

What is the difference between GEO and SEO?

SEO earns you a ranked position on a results page; GEO earns you a citation inside the AI-generated answer itself. They share foundations, but GEO prioritizes answer-ready structure, entity consistency, and authority signals that AI systems weigh when choosing what to cite.

How much do GEO services cost?

Our AI Visibility Audit starts at $1,800 (one-time, with a prioritized roadmap you keep). Ongoing GEO programs start at $2,300/month, most engagements land between $2,300 and $4,000 depending on competitive scope and how many AI platforms we target.

One more thing most agencies won’t tell you: the industry norm is to charge $500–$1,000/month extra for AI search optimization as an add-on. GEO is built into every SEO engagement we run, if you’re already working with us on SEO or digital marketing, you’re already getting it.

How do you measure GEO results?

Three measurable layers, reported monthly. AI referral traffic: sessions arriving from ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and Gemini are already observable in analytics (we track all four on our own property today). AI Overview presence: which of your ranking keywords trigger AI Overviews and whether you’re cited inside them, tracked through rank-monitoring data. And leads, because citations that never turn into contacts are trivia. We’re honest about the industry-wide limit here: attribution from AI answers is unsolved everywhere, since many AI mentions never produce a click. We measure what can be measured and say so about what can’t.

How long does GEO take to show results?

Technical and schema fixes surface in weeks; meaningful citation growth typically takes two to four months. AI search moves faster than classic SEO, engines refresh their sources aggressively, which rewards early movers.

What does a GEO engagement include?

Concrete work, most of it verifiable in your page source. A unified organization and entity graph in schema, so AI systems can tell who you are, where you are, and how you connect to the topics you want to be cited for. Definition blocks and question-shaped headings on the pages that answer commercial questions, because generative engines quote sources that answer cleanly. Citable claims: real numbers, named processes, and falsifiable specifics, since AI systems preferentially cite pages that say something checkable. A curated llms.txt. And the unglamorous technical layer underneath (canonical hygiene, crawlability, page speed) because a page that can’t be crawled can’t be cited.

What we don’t do: keyword-stuff for chatbots, generate filler “AI-optimized” content, or promise placement inside any specific AI answer. Nobody can promise that honestly.

Do you handle AEO and AI search optimization too?

Yes. They’re overlapping labels for the same discipline. Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), AI search optimization, and GEO all describe making your content easy for AI systems to find, understand, and cite. If you want the deeper background first, read our guide to what GEO is and our complete AEO guide, then talk to us about getting your business into the answers.
