For someone looking for a lawyer, the first conversation often starts well before they call the office. It starts with what they find online: the services a firm offers, the attorney’s background and whether the practice feels like a place they can turn to for help.

For Spanish-speaking clients, that search also needs to answer whether they can get help in their own language. Many people looking for Vargas Law Office begin with a search such as “abogado en Milwaukee” (a lawyer in Milwaukee). The website needs to make that connection clear before anyone picks up the phone.

Vargas Law Office is a bilingual English and Spanish law practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It handles criminal defense, family law, business law, personal injury, landlord and tenant disputes, guardianship and estate planning, and mediation.

We redesigned the firm’s website from the ground up and have managed its SEO since launch. The project brought together a modernized website, refreshed content in both languages and a build planned for search engines and AI answers.

The firm offered more than its search presence showed

Before the new pages launched, Google had just nine of the firm’s pages in its index. From March through May 2026, the site averaged about 11 clicks and 530 impressions a month from Google search.

For a practice handling a broad range of legal matters in two languages, that was a limited starting point. Google had relatively few pages to connect with someone searching for a particular kind of legal help in Spanish.

The website needed to carry visitors from that first search through to contacting the office. Someone looking for a Spanish-speaking criminal defense lawyer needed a relevant page to land on, information they could follow and a clear way to reach the firm.

Giving each service a place in both languages

We modernized the website and rebuilt it SEO- and AEO-first, planned for search engines and AI answers from the start. The redesign included an updated logo and refreshed photography. Every page and image was updated, and all copy was refreshed in English and Spanish.

We created a new site map, designed and developed a fully custom WordPress theme, and rebuilt every page on it.

The build took about three weeks.

The practice areas became a central part of the new structure. We built seven practice-area pages in English and eight in Spanish, with an additional Spanish page dedicated to divorce. Every English page has a Spanish counterpart with its own Spanish URL and page title.

A language switcher appears on every page, and both versions use matching layouts. Visitors who switch languages arrive on the corresponding page and can continue reading about the same service. Hreflang tags identify those English and Spanish page pairs for Google.

Helping visitors feel comfortable taking the next step

Getting someone to the website is one part of the work. The experience they find there needs to fit the situation they’re facing.

For Vargas Law Office, that meant balancing an established appearance with an approachable design. Someone facing a criminal charge or a custody dispute needs confidence in the practice. Someone who has never hired a lawyer needs information they can follow without feeling overwhelmed.

We used a navy and gold palette with serif headings, plenty of white space and short paragraphs. The homepage hero rotates through six photographs drawn from the firm’s practice areas, followed by a row of facts about the practice. Each practice area has its own card with a short description and a link to the full page.

Beyond those service pages, an attorney profile brings together credentials, bar admissions and a career timeline. The legal blog offers plain-language guides to Wisconsin law, covering OWI penalties, landlord and tenant rights, divorce and more.

When visitors are ready to reach out, a consultation button and click-to-call option are available in the header in both languages.

Connecting the search to the service

The Spanish searches bringing people to the site often describe both the help they need and where they need it. These include “abogados de familia” (family lawyers), “abogado de lesiones personales en milwaukee” (a personal injury lawyer in Milwaukee), “abogado criminalista milwaukee” (a criminal lawyer in Milwaukee) and “abogados que hablen español en milwaukee” (lawyers who speak Spanish in Milwaukee).

Each Spanish practice-area page targets those searches directly, with its own title and headings written in Spanish. Visitors can move from a Spanish search to a relevant service page, read about the attorney and contact the office without switching languages.

Behind the pages, we added structured data for search engines. Law-firm markup on every page includes the office address and map coordinates, alongside FAQ, service, article and breadcrumb markup. The attorney profile is marked up with credentials, languages and bar membership.

When Google crawled and indexed the new pages on July 14, 2026, the number of indexed pages grew from nine to 45.
