Product & App Development

Web3 and Blockchain Development Company

We build Web3 features into apps, games and storefronts: wallet connection, NFT and digital collectible features, and backends that read smart contract events. Our work includes McFarlane Toys Digital’s collectibles platform on Polygon, wallet approval for Decentraland publishing from inside a VR headset, and minting with MetaMask wallets in Arkh’s mobile AR app.

What we build for Web3 products.

Our Web3 work has always sat inside a larger product: a collector app, a VR creation tool, a mobile AR app. The wallet or the contract is usually the smallest part of the build. People decide whether to keep using the app around it, so we design and build both.

McFarlane Toys Digital

A digital collectibles platform on Polygon.

McFarlane Toys has made physical collectibles for more than 25 years. For its digital line, we worked with the McFarlane Toys Digital team from early planning through launch on a two-part system.

A cloud backend listens to live chain events, monitors contracts and tracks collector experience points and transactions. A Unity desktop viewer for Mac and PC lets collectors customize gallery spaces, show their collectibles and interact with other collectors. We also did character animation and setup. The platform launched to the public in December 2022 and works with Polygon-supported wallets.

Wallets in VR and mobile

Wallet connection in a headset and on a phone.

A wallet flow designed for a browser extension does not carry over to a VR headset or a mobile game. These two projects needed their own answer.

When a blockchain feature is worth building.

Plenty of products do not need a blockchain. If your idea works in a normal database, we will say so on the first call and recommend the database.

Where it fits. Digital ownership and collectibles that people buy, display and trade. Products whose users already hold wallets. A feature added to a storefront, game or app that already has an audience. Our own Web3 work has been in these cases.

Where a database usually does the job. Records that only your company writes and reads, or points and rewards that never leave your app, cost less to build and run in a normal database. New to the terms? Our guide What is Web3? covers the basics.

FAQs

Questions about Web3 and blockchain development.

What Web3 work have you shipped?

McFarlane Toys Digital, a digital collectibles platform on Polygon with a Unity desktop viewer, launched to the public in December 2022. For Decentraland, working alongside a partner agency, we built wallet approval and scene publishing from inside a VR headset. For Arkh’s mobile AR app, our work included minting digital collectibles and connecting MetaMask wallets.

Is blockchain still worth building on?

For many products, no, and we will say so on the first call. It fits digital ownership and collectibles, products whose users already hold wallets, and features added to an app that already has an audience. If your use case works in a normal database, we will recommend the database.

Which chains and tools have you worked with?

McFarlane Toys Digital runs on Polygon and works with Polygon-supported wallets. The Decentraland publishing flow used Nethereum and WalletConnect in Unity, and Arkh connected MetaMask wallets. Around the chain we use Unity, Node.js and web and mobile front ends. Our blog also walks through listening to contract events with thirdweb.

Can you add wallets or NFTs to an existing product?

Yes. Most of our Web3 work has been a wallet or collectible feature inside a larger product: a collector app, a VR creation tool, a mobile AR app. McFarlane’s digital collectibles were released alongside its physical figures.

How much does a Web3 project cost?

Each project is scoped on its own, so there is no set price. After a first conversation we write up the scope and an estimate for the build.
